The 'present day' of Earth-256-B is the tail end of the third millennium, the year 2999. The mighty humans have developed significantly in the technological and scientific departments and have finally become a type II civilization! Climate change? That's a thing of the past. Being a type II civilization means that humanity is now harnessing the power output of a star. Additionally, they've found nuclear power to be pretty fucking handy. Fossil fuels are a forgotten memory.
Governments have began the process of finally listening to the people after several too many centuries. Countries are getting a bit more walkable and bearable to live in by the day! Pretty nice, huh? People are the happiest they've been in... forever, pretty much. These bitches love their trams, trains, and rockets. What can I say?

Obviously, nothing hides from the eyes of its problems.

People still suffer, the engineers, city planners, and architects might be on some serious drugs, and there's a major crime problem as a result of powerful technology becoming more accessible to the masses. Oh, and something about magic, or something or other.
Let's zoom in on that third one and run with it. The primary entertainment of the so-called Astro-Nuclear Age are those who wish to... alter the crime problem. For the better? For the worse? To leave it painfully stagnant? That depends on the individual.

With the ever-increasing rate of technological advancements came the rise of the X-Gene, resulting in some mutations that are far bigger than life than a hitchhiker's thumb or cilantro tasting like soap.
In the epoch of methodically carrying out instructions and petting robots until the end of your days, these superpowered individuals bring a bit more hope, excitement, or disdain to people's days.


Outer Space

The Twin Suns

The Twin Suns is a binary star system comprised of Sol and Surya. Sol is the larger of the two.

Sol is the Sun, a G-type main-sequence star. The real deal. It's just not called the Sun here because haha funny.

Surya is a small pulsar-like white dwarf orbiting Sol with a mass of 0.9 M☉, a surface temperature of 20,500 K, and a luminosity of .0185 L☉. Surya can be recognized from the blue light it emits as opposed to Sol's yellow beams. It currently harbors a Dyson swarm known as the Solarfuse.

Billet-Doux

The Billet-Doux is a natural satellite system consisting of three natural satellites (moons) orbiting Earth.

  • Soma
    • The Moon! Appears to be a large white pearl in the night sky with splotches of rusty red and navy blue. Unfortunately not made of cheese.
  • Ziwa
    • A large, staring thing... The biggest of Billet-Doux; rendered in a strange mix of white and light blue. Rocky with stretches of frozen (contaminated) water on its surface. Uninhabitable.
  • Bienviellante
    • A grand marble, indeed! It's the smallest of the Billet-Doux; Bienviellante is painted with child-like strokes of green hues. Uninhabitable. Commonly associated with fairies.

United Republic of Leathucaria

...It's America. I wanted to spite Marvel's patriotism by changing the name and making it only American through location, history, place names, and vague resemblance.
Is Steve Rogers named Captain Leathucaria? Good question! Dunno.

Technology

Space Travel

Solarfuse

The Solarfuse is a Dyson swarm orbiting and harvesting the energy of Surya. It's the primary source of power for Earthlings, aside from nuclear power, and is what defines Earth as a type II civilization.

Thinking Machines

ROBOTS!! You saw this coming, right? Right? Please tell me you didn't strut over here, in this sci-fi/Marvel/video game/science nerd wonderland, without anticipating robots or some major machine influence.

There's no robot takeover or anything, the laws put into place after Ultron's reign in the 2700s ensured that.

Animals

What do you do when post-present biology is painfully similar to mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering? Give up? Imagine having to take computer architecture and applied computer science to get a biology degree.
